Care & Feeding of Your Jewelry To keep your jewelry fresh and shiny follow the steps below. Storing your sterling silver and silver-plate in a zip lock bag will slow the any tarnishing. |
|
Copper: Your copper rings are tarnish resistant, the shiny copper clasps are not but will develop a patina over time. To refresh your copper place 1 tablespoon of salt in a small dish with enough vinegar or lemon juice to cover your piece. Let set for 1 or 2 minutes, rinse, then rub a little baking soda over your piece, rinse again and dry. Enameled Copper: Does not tarnish, however your copper clasps will over time. Just use the above method but only dip the clasp into the salt/vinegar mixture. Gold-plate: Does not tarnish. Sterling Silver and Silver-plate: Use a jewelry cloth and buff your piece until shiny, or you can use a commercial liquid jewelry polish. Just remember to rinse and dry thoroughly afterwards. Take special care in cleaning any piece that contains turquoise or opals as both stones are very sensitive to chemicals. Thanks Val Rollins |
